The shutter fires properly if the lever on the upper left (facing the lens) is depressed, but not if the shutter relase button is depressed. Not clear to me how the button is connected to the shutter release. Would appreciate a source for a diagram showing the cocking, counter and release assemblies.

make sure the rear tab portion of the trip lever on thutter is straight and perpendicular. If so, remove the top cover and adjustment for increasing the stroke the trip rod will be obvious.
