Hello All,

In a last-ditch effort to salvage this Fujica ST605, whose focusing screen I screwed up with a Q-Tip and lens cleaning fluid...I'm tempted to try to 'polish' these scuffs off the focusing screen with Brasso, applied gently with a soft cloth.

Worth a try, or will this just make things even worse?

On looking through the finder, the marks that I added with Q-tip show up as gray-black, adding to the already dim finder. I'd like to try to polish them out, but I just don't know if it's do-able. Suggestions?

Fixed it!

Or at least, undid the mess I made a couple of days ago.

Hydrated silica: Colgate MaxFresh. Put just a miniscule amount on the tip of my finger, rubbed in a circular motion, checked progress often, cleaned the toothpaste residue off with Q-tips with a little bit of store-brand Windex.

While I won't be able to clear the yellowness, and there's still an ugly damned speck at the 9 o'clock position next to the outermost circle, (above the screen for sure) but at least I can look through the finder and not want to hide the camera away out of sheer disgust and embarrassment.

Thank you all for your help...I've been searching through the old threads on this website...stumbled upon the mention of toothpaste, figured I'd try it before I went out to get some Brasso. The stores were closed; had no choice but to try toothpaste.
