Anyone know of an easy way to eliminate the shutter sqeek from an A1 or AE-1?

Yes
Do a search. There are numerous posts to this problem. Use a good grade of clock oil or light oil. Do not use WD-40. It dries out and is only softened up with varsol or something similar.

Having used Canon A1 for over twenty years, my advice is forget it, and live with it. Whatever you do,A1 sqeak is like rust, it always comes back!

You can certainly ignore it for a while... when the mirror slows down and starts to become irritating, you can fix it.....

Hi,

I've done several posts about oiling the Canon through the bottom of the camera. It should be in the archives. I just fixed the squeek in two of my A1s as well as in my AE-1P.
