I have a lovely OM2, but it has a problem..
In auto mode, the mirror hangs halway (the way it does when the battery is dead), and I can only clear it by using the "reset" switch. It works fine in manual mode.
I assume this is some sort of shutter magnet problem; can anyone advise how to get at the magnets please??

I don't think it's a magnet problem - that would affect the manual speeds too. I think maybe the auto control system is failing to switch on as the mirror rises... but i've never encountered quite what you're seeing.

I assume it hangs up in the "OFF" position too?

hmm, that is odd. maybe a problem in the MAN/OFF/AUTO switch or its wiring? would be better news than something deep inside....

Does the meter work OK with the switch in "AUTO"? Could be that it's shorting the meter only in AUTO.

If not, I'd check the yellow and white wires going into the ASA dial, and the connections related to it, under the top cover.
