I am running into an issue with one of my XD-11's that I am wondering if anyone has seen before. On my prints approximately 1/3 across the picture from the left hand side I am getting a vertical red band. This occurs on different films and lenses, so I am sure it is a camera issue. I sent this camera in for a CLA and while I believe they did a decent job overall this was a big problem with the first batch of prints that I got back. In this first batch you could see what appeared to be the diode shape and a black felt appearing area in the shots. I sent the camera back and it was diagnosed as a problem with light coming through the memo area of the film door and this was repaired. I shot another test roll when the camera came back and of the the 25 prints I took, I can see this red area in only 3 of them. Whereas if the red area was a 10 intensity before, now it is a 2 on one picture, and a .5 in the other two. The worst of this second batch was taken outside in direct sunlight . I put a lense on the camera and opened the back in a dark room and tried to see if I could visualy recreate seeing the red diode through the camera back, but I was unable to. The two test rolls were shot using aperture priority. I could post examples of scans from the slides if it would help. I would like to take this camera on an upcoming vacation, but do not trust it at this point for the "once in a lifetime" shot. The light seals have been replaced in the film door and the one across where the mirror returns appears to have been done as well. I do not think the ones that run on the left and right sides of the focusing screen were replaced. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Lance |

If this problem was not present before you sent it for the CLA,then to put it bluntly they did a crap job!Send it back, with the slides/photos as evidence and tell them to put it right. |
