I have a Sears TLS that is in great shape but the meter is not responding. Any ideas on how to revive this or should I just use it manually? Thanks. Mark

Mark:

Mine had the same problem first. Then, I took the top off and give it a gentle air blow, it came back. I blieve the needle was caught by a small piece of debrit. Hope this helps.

Common cause is corrosion of battery chamber or of black wire between battery and electronics. Wire can looks well, plastic insulation is intact, but copper is turned into dust.
But I have one Ricoh TLS where failure is unrepairable. Galvanometer is bad, the coil of galvanometer is disconnected. It is not repairable.
