Hi... I have a beloved old Minolta SRT 101 that I've been using for quite some time. A couple of years ago, it developed a problem with the PC X sync connector.

With a flash plugged into it, pushing the connector to one side (I still haven't figured out exactly which way...) allows it to trigger. But otherwise, it doesn't trigger.

What's likely at fault here? It does the same thing with the PC connectors on several different flashes. I'm guessing it's either the connector itself, or where the wire is soldered to the center pin. How would I fix the connector, or get in there to replace it? (I can just barely see the other side of it inside the mirror box area - it looks like a standard chassis mount PC connector, like that inside the top of a Canonet.)

Firstly go to the Micro Tools site and get yourself one of their PC socket/cord connector tools. This little device allows you to reform and true PC connectors back to original specs. For a small outlay,it can save you hours on the bench.

Not saying that this will definitely solve your problem, but it has saved me a strip-down on more than one occasion.
