I've recently buyed a pentax k1000 and it comes with a microprism foxusing screen. I would like to replace it by a split-image. It is possible? |

It's not impossible, but it's not very likely. The main problem is that you will need to find a split-image screen to fit the camera. There were some K1000s made with split image screens (the "SE" model), but not many; KMs and Spotmatics also generally had microprism screens. You might find a split screen from a KX, but I don't know if it would fit... and it might cost more than your whole K1000 to get it. Since none of these cameras had interchangeable screens, you'll have to buy a whole camera to get the screen unless you get incredibly lucky. Problem 2 is that you have to do a fairly substantial disassembly to get the screen out of the camera.... but that's small compared to finding a screen. |

I recently bought some focusing screens for a ME Super off eBay from the Pentax user club in the UK. Apparently they also had some for the K-series. The sellers eBay-id is pentax-club. If they do not have any listed you could try messaging them and ask if they plan to list more of those. |
