I just got a Pentax ME super, the problem with the camera is: when I switch it to Auto or M or 1/125x, the shutter fires (although all at the same speed), but the LEDs in the viewfinder do not show up, this is with a set of new batteries.

The camera also fires when without batteries (Auto or M or 1/125x), is this normal? I thought this is a electronic shutter?

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thanks a lot!

I figured out the problem.

I took its top off, one of the lines in the flex-circuit is bent, so I resolder the connection and camera works like new. :)

Thanks!

I have a Pentax ME F that I've had since high school. My daughter now wants to take a photography class so I dug it out for her. Put in new batteries only to find that the LED indicators aren't working anymore. I am not a camera repair person but pretty techical so with clear instructions I should be able to get this thing working. Is this problem reasonably easy to fix? Can someone provide me with instructions?

I am not sure about your ME F, since my ME super was the first Pentax I have, I am a Konica guy.

However, I would check two things,
1. battery holder, is it clean? if not, clean the contacts with a scriper or a blad.

2. If that can not fix the problem, you can also try to remove the top and look for broken or bent wires, that is how I fixed my ME SUPER.

Good luck!

Hi there,

I also have a PENTAX ME SUPER.

I hadn't used it for at least 3 years until recently.

It won't wind at all, it's like the winding arm is stuck.

I thought the battery was gone so replaced that but it still does not work...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ben
