Hi Guys,

Just obtained an Olympus FTL, which seems in rather decent condition (OK needs a clean, and seals replacing). However one problem, the shutter is definitely capping at 1/1000 (computer monitor test).

My understanding is that this should first be treated as a cleaning/lube problem before I start mucking about with shutter curtain tensioners.

Anyone got any general hints, and also specific ones to the FTL (mirror cage off, access to shutter roller bearings etc). Stripped a few SLR's down by now for basic cleaning, relube etc (with generally reasonable success on a working camera at the end), but experience shows that some knowledge of the specifics helps beforehand (and this one cost me a bit more than most of the $10 junkers I normally pick up).....

Cheers,

Gary.

P.S. Apologies - posted this twice (once under another heading - think I've now got the hang of the interface).
