Any standard strobe will work. It seems to me the FED5 had a hot shoe; if not, it takes a regular PC cord that comes standard with most flash units.

The FED5 has a focal plane curtain shutter. Probably the max sync speed is 1/30 sec. If you select faster speeds pics will be exposed partially only.

To support Winfried's post, yes the maximum synch speed is indeed 1/30 of a second. It's also the only flash synch speed. It's a mechanical camera, and as a result, any electronic flash will do. It is in "X" synch. The camera has a hot shoe (which in my first camera body had trouble with the contact points), but it also has a pc synch socket on the back side of the top cover.
