Repair of a shutter who has documentation or the scheme of the device interests? |

I once tried to repair the Sokol shutter... and finally needed another junker to finish the repair.
The Sokol shutter is a (licensed) copy of the Copal Magic shutter, and probably one of the most complex leaf shutters ever built. Any repairs different from cleaning the shutter blades are extremly different. Even opening the shutter is quite difficult:
Loosen some tiny set screws around the lens barrel and remove the name plate ring with the windows for the lightmeter. Remove the cover screws around the lens barrel and loosen the set screws of the rangefinder coupling ring around the front lens element. Unscrew the front lens element and hold down the coupling ring during this operation. Then remove the second lens element. Also, lift the front rings of the lens barrel. Now you have access to the shutter blades.
You can go deeper inside the shutter by lifting the shutter cover which is held in place by three or four screws. There are some latches on the underside of this cover, they must be linked with the cocking mechanism (and will keep you from changing aperture or speed when the shutter is uncocked). There are cut-outs provided to move these latches during reassembly so that they fit into the teeth of the aperture and speed setting ring.
