greetings. I've handled my MPS23 with good care, and it has been a wonderful workhorse.
recently I found its RF moves very slowly whenever I turn lense's focusing ring from 1m to infinity. it moves well from infinity to 1m. [though its accuracy is wonderful.]
anyone else experienced this situation? can I ever fix it? please allow me any comments about it, and please keep in mind that I have dull hands
it sounds like something is gummed. remove the top cover and look around--could be the shaft goes thru camera top to lens opening or the moving mirror.
Slow rangefinders usually are easy to fix. In many cases placing a droplet of lighter fluid on each bearing of the lever(s) you see will do the trick. If you want to do something good to your rf then place a tiny (I said TINY) droplet of gun or watchmakers' oil on each bearing.
In very few cases it is corrosion. Sometimes the bearings or shafts are made from steel which may corrode over time. In these cases sometimes oil works but it is better to disassemble the mechanism and remove traces of rust with a glass fibre erazor.
