Have had the camera since new and until the advance lever got stuck, worked great. The lever will not allow more than about 10degrees of movement and I don't want to put too much pressure on it.
I am a novice but would like to repair. Can someone offer advise on what to do and if special tools are required.

Hi Don:
First, are you sure the shutter is not cocked? If it's not and the lever is jammed, there may be something jammed in the gears. Getting the top cover off (and back on) the OM2S is less pleasant than the OM1 and OM2, I'm not sure this is something i'd recommend as your first project.

This problem can result from the following catch-22:
Film advance lever can't be moved until shutter is fired. Shutter can't be fired until film is advanced.
Try manually rolling the film sprocket inside the camera until the shutter is cocked. Then fire the shutter. This may be the solution.

Interlock mechanism grease in base sometimes gets stiff, thus locking transport. Remove base, clean levers, (right side, lens facing forward) with shellite or similar till loose. Should do the trick. |
