I have a Canon EOS 5 and the selector button (ie. L, P Tv, Av, M etc...)turns but it doesn't seem to switch the camera into the different modes.

What I'm asking is basically how to fix it,
1-does it just pull up?
2-does it require the back casing to be removed?

Love to hear from anyone who takes up this challenge!!!!

You are right...that's an easy one.

Of course when this same thing happened to my A2 it was two days before leaving for vaction in the Rocky's. But luckily a local shop had the part and fixed it for $56. I also had them grind off the detent so that blasted button wouldn't have to be pushed. Be cautious if you do this as a battery can be accidentally discharged if the dial is turned inside the camera bag.

But...if you want to fix it yourself go to:

Goodluck.
