I have a Canonet 28 and a Canonet 1.7 QL GIII. When I try to install a cable release in the shutter button, the 28 barely accepts about 1/2 turn and the 1.7 not at all. This is the same cable release that fits various Olympus 35's, Kodak Retinas and a Leica M2. Do the Canon's have an odd thread? Thanks for any info

I tried my camera and it does the same thing. only goes in about one good turn. Not an answer to your question but the condition is not unique to your camera.
