One of the things wrong with this M3 is the adhesive dried out on the internal light tight strips and they came loose and jammed the shutter rollers.
Now I've thumbed through the M2 manual and saw the ones there...but that brought up a bigger question than just "Exactly where do they go?" No where inside this M3 was there a long strip, only two short ones.
Anyone here have a photo of the locations? And does the M3 have this long strip?

I don't know about the long one, but there two that go on the back side of what I would call the lens cone. If you remove the lens cone, you can see where they were cemented. Plipond would be good to put them back. The stips I'm thinking of are about 1 1/4" long. |

Hello Henry,
This could be a long shot - I should have checked my M4 at home, I am writing this in my office. Isn't there a long strip along the upper edge of the back door?
Just a thought.....

There may be a strip on the flip-up back door. But the strip I'm refering to is shown on fig 39 as item 26 of the military M2 repair manual that is downloadable on the net. Think they call the M2 a KS-15.
There is just a groove on the inside rear of the outer housing and thought maybe the strip was supposed to fit in it. Nearly everything is identical to the M3 so it's a mystery if the M2 has this strip and the M3 doesn't.
