I have recently acquired a Konica Auto S2 that is very good condition and takes excellent images. The only minor complaint that I have is the shutter speed ring is a little tight to turn. Short of taking the lens assembly apart can anyone suggest some possible fixes that will not compromise this fine lens and shutter assembly while it is “in place”. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

All you have to do is to remove the name plate ring and the meter cell, and then unscrew the front lens cell. Now you will see a 'wavy nut' around the shutter collar. Loosening a bit (just a few notches) will free the speed ring. However, I found the speed ring is pretty stiff on most of these cameras, it seems as if it is designed like that.

When you loosen the shutter cover nut as described above the filter thread ring will be somewhat loose, but the lens elements will stay firmly attached to the shutter.

I have made the same experience with my Auto S2, the shutter-speed ring is very tight.

If you open the wavy nut too far, the whole front part of the lens barrel will rotate. It is fixed only by a little nib connecting the shutter assembly with the back of the plate held by the wavy nut.
