I JUST BOUGHT A CANONET QL-17. I BOUGHT A ALKALINE 625A CELL JUST TO TEST IT TILL I COULD GET A ZINC AIR BATTERY.THE PROBLEM IS EVERY THING WORKS BUT THE SHUTTER WONT FIRE WHEN SET ON ANY OF THE MANUEL F-STOPS & WILL ONLY FIRE HALF OF THE TIME ON THE "A" & 28 SETINGS AS IF SOMETHING ISNT CONNECTED OR IN PLACE INSIDE. IT ONLY FIRES ON THE 20&14.THE METER LOOKS TO BE WORKING BUT I DONT KNOW IF ITS THE METER INTERLOCK OR IF SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE RECONECTED INSIDE. I HAVE CHECKED THE ARCHIVES BUT I HAVENT FOUND ANYTHING LIKE THIS. ANY ADVISE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

The shutter interlock of the QL17 is very prone to malfunction, since it has to be adjusted very carefully - and adjusting is only done by bending parts into shape.

If you want to check it yourself, you can peel off the leatherette below the shutter release and remove the front panel. The shutter release shaft just passes the edge of a metal latch when in M mode, and should not be able to pass the latch in A mode when the needle is in the red zones.
