Have a Leicaflex (original model with the circular window frame counter, not an SL). The shutter seems to be cocked, but will not release.Where do I start looking to restore function. This camera has unfortunately not been kindly treated. One of the screws holding the bottom plate on has virtually no head left and the tripod socket has been badly abused to the point where how it was originally intended to be removed is gone. Any ideas appreciated..

If you can locate a replacement screw (probably a standard metric thread) then a left-twist drill bit of the right size to drill off the remainder of the screw head will either unscrew the screw or drill off the head so you can remove the bottom, then try unscrewing the stub with a pliers. Applying a little heat with a hot soldering iron tip might help, as well as allowing some Kroil or Liquid Wrench to soak in (apply lightly, so you don't flood the insides).

I don't know how the tripod socket is mounted so I can't suggest much... unless there is enough room to drill a couple opposed holes and unscrew it with a spanner wrench...?

Good luck!
