My ME Super winde lever is totally loose and won't engage. The prism is down and will not return to upper position. Can I repair this myself, or will it require professional help? |

A completely loose advance lever suggests a jam just a fraction away from full advance -- possibly due to a film chip or similar. I've fixed similar problems, but I've also got one camera in which that problem was seemingly caused by a screw that had fallen out and lodged in the advanc gearing -- much harder repair, since I don't even know where the screw is supposed to live. |

first thing, check the batteries. the ME can lock up when the battery dies. It could save you a lot of hassle. I think moving the dial to Bulb or flash sync speed might free it up as those speeds can be used without battery. |

A common problem is a sheared off tab. I show pictures of this in an article on this website. It isn't that hard to fix, but does require a donor part...unless you are very good at brazing minute parts! Henry |
