I have a Minolta Hi-Matic 11 that fires the shutter during the end of the cocking stroke . It also does not lock the cocking lever at the end of the stroke unless the cocking lever is not fully advanced, in which case the shutter button cannot be depressed. Can anyone give some advice as to what may be the cause of this?

Does your Minolta rattle?

I've got a Ricoh Singlex II (SLR) that's done this off and on for more than ten years, and now does it 100% of the time -- not coincidentally, I think, I also have a screw I took out of the advance gears the third time it hard locked on me; I suspect something attached with that screw is responsible for synchronizing cocking and advance and preventing firing until the release is pressed.

I'll keep an eye on this thread, in hopes you come up with a solution I can use...

No rattles Donald. I have removed the top and bottom plate. also pulled the lense assembly off to check the linkages, it was working intermittently but now just winds without cocking the shutter at all, hopefully one of the wise Gnomes will give some direction
