My xg-7 was serviced about a year ago. I have run maybe 10 rolls of film since, all outdoors.
Problem started with my shutter sticking open it would close when I turnned the power switch off. That was intermittent for a while. Now the shutter works but seems to be stuck on one speed. ( no difference in sound at different speeds-- Even between 1000 or 2 or even the "B" setting, the same "chunk" of a shutter.)
I installed new batteries, the viewfinder led for speed seems fine.
Ideas?

The first things to suspect in this situation would be the variable resistors for f-value, film speed, and shutter speed. They are all metal fingered "wipers". The first thing to try is exercise them repeatedly- this is the quickest and cheapest solution when it works. If not, then disassembly and cleaning of the fingers and resistor substrate are in order. This should have been done at the servicing a year ago. Possibly not.

Mike, I am inclined to agree with you. I didnt mention that when I repeatedly ran the power switch through its range the shutter went from sticking 95% of the time to maybe 1% of the time. And now on the other side the speed is stuck "wherever". I'll exercise the speed dial now.
tx, Daniel.
