Hello. I'have a canonet and i want to take off the upside cap (where the finder is). What can i do to throw off the shutter release? Thank you. djalab. |

Hello Djalab, I believe that what you want to accomplish is to remove the top cover of the camera. The shutter release collar can be removed by using a rubber block or a piece of an inner tire tube. By using rubber you will be able to get a good grip on the collar and will not damage it. Press hard on the collar and turn counterclockwise. Good luck, Jan |

Another thing that sometimes works is to wrap a piece of masking tape around the chrome ring and use the tape as a handle to twist the ring off. Like the rubber pad, this will not damage the part and it sometimes gives a better grip without having to press so hard.
