i have a minolta x-570 and the mirror is stuck in the upright position. Can anyone help me?

try GENTLY pulling curtain towards the rewind end of the camera--it may release it.

I've had two X-570's do this. Eventually the pictures will start coming out half-exposed (one side of the frame completely black) but I've not heard what can be done to fix it.

Re. Half exposed pictures, this is due to the shutter mech. not loading up fully. In base of the camera look for a large Blue gear and a small white one next to it. Then locate the small cross head screw near them, with the lens throat facing away from you undo this screw 1 turn, then push the blue gear very carefully clockwise so that it jumps 1 tooth in relation to the white gear, remesh the gears and tighten the screw.
