Hello everybody, I'm new here and I'm glad to find these place as well!!!

I've just bought a used Nikon FE and I realized that it has some problems and I don't know what to do with them.

1) The slower speeds (1-2-4-8 sec) are not working properly, they are taking about 25% more of time. The fasters speed are working more or less accurate (shutter speed meter made by myself)

2) It came with a K2 focus screen so I corrected the EV in +1/2 but, when doing some test shots, the EV needed to be corrected to +2.

3) The auto exposure mode (Aperture Priority) is not working properly.... in the same test shots I realize that it is metering about 4 speed less than the apropied one (i.e. the correct metering is 1/8.....the auto is making about 1/125.

I would really apreciate any advice on repairing my camera... specially if they are DIY jobs!!!!

Thank you very much!!!

I would advise professional repair. It sounds like the metering system is seriously screwed up. You could try getting a manual and tweaking the metering adjustments, but this is not a repair job for novices. Alternatively, look for a functional but badly dented FE on eBay and transfer the good trim from your current camera. Bad cosmetics knock down the price of a camera considerably on eBay.

An FE is a very complicated camera. And your problems seem electronic where there are no new replacement parts.

This is not a camera to use as a first tinkering effort. Try to find a good repair shop.
