i have a minolta XG7 that seems to have a problem with shutter timing. the shutter works; however, it doesn't matter if i set it at 1/250 sec or 1 full second it stays open for the same amount of time (about 1/60 sec?). am i just perceiving things wrong or can this problem occur?
thanks!

Justin,

I have exactly the same problem you describe (but on an XG2 which I am fairly certain is an XG7 anyway!!) However, I came here looking for a solution and don't have an answer for you.

Does your automatic metering work? I don't get any led's lighting in the viewfinder on mine in A mode. Primarily I want my camera for doing astrophotography and the bulb setting works as normal, it just would be nice to use it in more situations.

Has anybody else experienced this problem? Hopefully it is just a dead resistor or similar, I have had the camera apart and all connections look good, I just need a wiring diagram to trace everything out properly.

BTW I have fresh batteries too!!

Regards

Ben
