The most common source of the oil is the grease used in the focusing helicoid. Normally it is cleaned with a solvent such as naptha (i.e. cigarette lighter fluid) or something similar.
Sometimes you can do this by removing the front lens and putting a few drops on the moving parts, blowing them out with air.
The Hi-matic cameras have an auto-exposure system that often creates problems and the diaphragm is the problem, not the shutter. To really do it right you have to take the shutter off the camera and disassemble it. That is quite an "adventure" on these cameras. They are not very easy to work on. |
