MTL 5b Film Advance Lever

Posted on Thursday, October 07, 2004 - 06:05 am:        Hello I have an MTL 5b an I am experiencing a similar problem to several older ones on this forum. I am unable to get either the film advance lever or the shutter to work. I have read an old post from Rafael Alday that said: "Remove the lens and on the left side you will see a lever for mounting the mirror. If you pull this lever forward it is possible the camera works again. " and was wondering if someone could explain where this lever is and the other options available if this doesn't work. Posted on Monday, October 11, 2004 - 08:45 am:        Hello Michael, I think, the problem you described has nothing to do with the hint you quoted. The explained procedure does only help if you winded up your camera and later the mirror hangs in the up-position due to shaking the camera or carrying it around upside down. In this case one may release the mirror by pushing a small clamp in the upper left edge of the inner compartement. But it is only to avoid wasting a frame on the film that is possibly in the camera. Your problem seems to be much more complicated. Thats why a more detailed explanation of the current situation & symptoms is required to get a better idea on the possible solutions.
