The light seal foam on my Pentax MX has turned to absolute goo. I have been able to remove the goo from the back, the strip near the hinge, and from the grooves in the body. Does the relacement foam go only on the back and by the hinge, or should there be thin strips in the grooves on the body? There seem to be some small openings in the top groove, perhaps opening into the upper mechanicals? Thanks for any help.

Yes, it definitely goes in the long thin film door slots. In fact, I've developed a product that makes this a snap to re-seal those slots with. To see it, please go to E-Bay and search using the option "Items by Seller." Type in my ID...Interslice...and you'll see. The kits also have the thin seal material you'll need for the hinge seal on your Pentax in foam and fabric, plus the mirror damper foam you'll need in the proper thickness and instructions complete with several images.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Jon

Ken ...

Heed what Jon says.
He has the light-seal issue reduced to an artform.
