hi,

i have a very nice nikon fe2 body, but something mysterious is wrong. when i use a wideangle lens and big aperture focussed on endless. lots of my photo's are unsharp/out of focus in the middle and in focus on the outside area. i asked in many camera shops here what it could be but everybody is sure it is my nikon wideangle lens. i did a test with 2 identical nikon wideangle lenses and 2 nikon fe body's and it appears that the wideangle lenses are fine. so my question is does anybody have a clue what the problem with this camera could be and how to fix this???
if you need to know more please don't hesitate to ask. i am really curious what it can be. and it is defenitely not the wideangle...
thanks, ania

This sounds like the FE2's mirror or its focus screen has been moved out of its proper position. The extreme DOF of the wideangle lens could account for the correct focus of more distant objects found behind your centered and out-of-focus subject. The only other explanation I can think of is that you are using a wide-angle lens not designed for the FE2 which protrudes too far into the mirror box for correct focusing.
