I recently purchased a Minolta XG-1 as is camera. After installing new batteries, the camera worked fine. However, when I put a lens on the camera, I could not focus clearly. When looking through the viewfinder, even the speed LED numbers look blur. Could something be "backwards" or could somebody have installed a new viewfinder corrected for poor vision or something else. It's not the lens because the lens works fine on all my other Minolta Cameras.

There is a small lens which forms part of the pentaprism focus chain. This is the first lens your eye would see. It sits between your eye and the pentaprism, usually part of a black plastic housing or at least held in place by this plastic housing. My guess is that lens is gone. If so, you will have to buy another as is camera to get the part, as you will never be able to focus without it. Good luck.

Some are, some aren't. Very similar to every other marque that has several models over several years. One reason you see so many Minolta questions here is that there were so many sold.

The Minolta XG-1 is seriously lowend, in my book anyway.

Rev Ashbaugh, I have a couple junker XG-1's. If that piece is what you are missing let me know.

Henry
