I recently came across a Yashica LM Copal MX TLR and everything seems to function on it except for the shutter. When I try to cock the shutter, the shutter leafs only twitch a little but don't actually cock. Pushing down the shutter release will reset the shutter but the shutter iris won't actually open. I'm guessing that the shutter mechanism needs cleaning but wanted to see if anyone else has run across this issue before and had any insight.

I also have a Yashica 44 TLR which only has shutter speeds of B and about 1/125 instead of the full speed range up to 1/500... again, anyone familiar with that?

Any input would be nice.

on the first, one possibility is that the blades may be stuck together so that the mechanism is operating but they can't move.

on the second, i'd guess that the excapement is dirty and failing to return to its 'rest' position after the shutter fires, so that it is not in place to delay the mechanism on future cycles.
