I have recently acquired a nice Canon VT Deluxe (1956) for a reasonable price.

Everything seems to work well except the shutter. He can be cocked and fired, but there is no difference if I use any speed from 1/1000 to 1, B and T (tried with XF and FP/M, on "A" position), the sound is always the same.

I can see the shutter switching back when fired; but I can't see any opening/exposing of the shutter even with 1 second speed (hold it against strong light source with open back).

It's the VT model with the cloth shutter (later ones had a metal one). The cloth looks flawless, no nicks or crinkles.

Has anybody ever had a similar problem? I have read all Canon VT related posts in the archive, but it seems my shutter has another problem.

Any advice is appreciated!
TIA
Didier
