I continue to receive emails from http://www.aakashindustries.com/ about the parts they have available. They seem to have a great product offering, but all I know about them is from their own website and unsolicited emails. I'd like to hear comments from someone who's dealt with them, if anyone has......

I havent, but I have a Nikon FM2n which needs new shutter blades (one is bent). Think it would be a reasonable gamble?

Their catalog seems to be mostly high end products. It's probably not cost effective to make new parts for some of the less expensive cameras (like my Oly Trip 35).

I think we all are being spammed by Aakashin. Their products seems ok, but like Rick, I haven't purchased from them either.

Both Kar Yan and myself have asked them to stop sending unrequested emails. They haven't responded, to me at least. So I created a mail filter that disappears them to the junk bin. Their site is saved in my favorites and I believe they are also linked from our site here.

But frankly, they piss me off by not stopping all the emails.

I haven't done that yet; I don't read most of them, but I don't mind the occasional reminder that they're out there.

Jon, at the price I'd go ahead, with one caveat: I have done this replacement, and when I ordered the blades Nikon needed my serial number to make sure I got the right ones. I don't know what the odds are of having a fit problem with the Aakash blade set.

If you do go for it, I have some notes for you. I also have some for straightening a bent blade, if you want to try that instead.

Henry, they haven't responded to my email either, which only leads me to believe that they have no means to stop their spamming. I personally haven't purchased from them so can't comment on that aspect. But all this spam really does tick me off too especially when it seems that they've taken this forum for granted by ripping all our emails.

Ya know I was thinking of ordering from them but not online. I'd like to place an order through the mail paying by check. I e-mailed them today and await and answer. I'll let you know what I get back. See, I figure if i loose a few bucks on a small order, I can chalk it up to science. If they turn out to be a reputable business, I'll do business with them.

I was also reciving spam from Aakash. I have reported them as spammers to earthlink and have not been bothered again. If Aakash were the only one sending spam I wouldn't care; But, standing in line behind Aakash are a horde of people trying to sell there wares. I do not want to have to delete 100+ emails a day from these people. I refuse to do business with any one who promotes their business by unsolicited e-mails. Spam will continue to plague the internet so long as business can make a buck this way.

PS: I am promoting a gel containing the benifits of both Rogaine and Viagra. You can see the benifits yourself by looking at any picture of Don King. You can sign up for my mailing list on this product at www.yeahright.biz. ;-}

Mixture of Rogaine & Viagra, eh? Makes you look like Don King, eh? Maybe you could call it "Bro"-gaine? Or "Vi-afro". And those professors thought I was snoozing through all those marketing classes. Just remember where to send the royalty checks...

Back to the shutter blade problem, actually I'd prefer to straighten the one I have. It works okay, but I'm a little concerned it might hang in time or something. If you have the notes handy, Rick, I'll give it a whirl.

I totally agree with Lee's view on this and have just sent a second email to Aakash asking to be removed from their list. I made the point with them that they are doing nothing but annoy me with their unsolicited emails so why would I trust them to do otherwise if I did business with them? Their corporate image stinks already.

I get their e-mails, too, but haven't tried them as I have few cameras worth the cost of repairing. Though in the case of my Contaflex SBC and Zorki 3M, I would still LIKE to fix them someday, if possible...

Also, I think it would be called "Fro-gain".

I am also geting "spammed" by them. Although I haven't personally used them, I did mention them to Mike Spencer who has a professional repair business here in the UK. He was of the opinion that their parts were not "new" but "fresh in", so in other words they were buying up old redundant stock and reselling it. He also had a very low opinion of their reliability and service. His advice to me was to avoid them if at all possible.

I tried e-mailing them to see if they woiuld sell part by mail instewad of online and I haven't gotten a reply at all. My guess it's a scam of some sort. I just added them to my list of spam blockers.

I received unsolicited spam from them too. I did send them an email on their "contact us" button but continued to receive the spam . I then sent them a VERY abrupt and IMPOLITE message insisting that they desist immediately. This did get a response from a polite and perplexed gentleman who asked that I provide my email address so he could remove it from their mailing list. I did so and said that I would save the website address and contact him if I wanted anything. The spam stopped forthwith.
