Hi;

I recently purchased a Yashica Electro 35 GX with a corroded battery chamber. After cleaning up the corrosion, I was unable to get the electronics working, so I removed the bottom plate and took a look. I quickly found that a white wire from battery chamber had become brittle and had detached itself, and when I pulled it aside with tweezers, it separated from the camera entirely. I am wondering if anyone would know where this wire would have been attached to, so that I can solder a replacement for it.

Thanks;
Kevin

You might try the Yashica Guy's site.

I had a very similar problem with a Electro 35 GSN. They are notorious for this "weak link". Hopefully it will apply to the GX.

I had a 35 GSN. The wire ran from the battery cavity to a pad on a PC board near the test button. I cut another piece of wire (22 AWG) to fit and attached it to the pad using conductive epoxy from a rear window defroster repair kit because I didn't trust my shaky hand to solder it without shorting or melting adjacent components.
