got a near MINT Oly 35DC in the mail today might not even have to remove the top plate but I want to clean it. I've never tackled a top plate with a self timer on it before. is there a trick to removing the top plate? do I remove the self timer knob first? (can't see how that would matter) are springs and gears going to fly across the room when I take the top off in the standard way?

Here's a few pictures of one opened - but I don't read Japanese. But obviousely everything seems to stay in place neatly. You certainly have to remove the self timer lever but I don't believe it has to be the first thing to do. Never opened one though, only guessing from the pics but those look like the lever is simply goig through the whole in he cover and is fastened to the clockwork mounted to the body.

Here's some exploded views and parts list:

As said above - I'm only judging from what I have seen in the above links. Certainly somebode else here had one open (or one of it's siblings).

Sorry, not much help I fear.

Olympus is notorious for LH threads. If I have one to work on, the part I have to remove is LH threaded is usually the first question I ask.
