I did a search for how to repair Leather Camera cases first. I need some advise on leather cases. The back strap of the top part is wearing thin at the area it bent for top removal for years . My Father gave me his Zeiss Ikon Contessa 35. He bought the whole kit for $55.00 when we lived in Japan at the PX on Ft. KOBE in 1955.
My Dad had the top of the leather case done in fancy fonts inlaid with his name in Gold. The Camera was serviced in 72 & put into a dry safe & never used again. The meter works & the camera is as clean as a any camera I've ever seen.
What do you think I should do? I would like to use it as is, however I can take the camera out & use it with a tripod.
I now have the answer & a great repair job. I started by calling a leather shop, he sent me to Leather Smith. His forte was repairing leather straps etc.
For a strong almost invisable repair he charged me only $15.00 . This should be a fun Camera & no batteries at all. If it still takes pics like those my Dad took I'll be very happy.
