Any information on Leicaflex SL out there available, that won't cost an arm & a leg. There is a lot of hoopla about how it is a nice camera, but seems to stop there with no help.
By the way, someone asked about using a black yarn for a light seal. The SL is using it, so I guess it works on the door. I was sure that I had seen it on the older German cameras.

There have been Leicaflex Standard repair manuals on eBay for around $25 - these reprints of the genuine Leitz manual allow the mechanics of the SL to be serviced. I personally do not think $25 is out of the way, the SL is a very good camera and a serviceable one will soon get your outlay in the manual back. There is much on Google about the SL and I seem to think that there was a free download a good while back - forgotten the site and cannot be bothered to search through all the German language stuff at the moment! |

Yes, but I havent bought anything on E auctions in over 12 years & don't want to start as it could be too costly. I am not registered with them, or can even remember my log in or ID. They have gotten too expensive to deal with IMHO. As they get a % for the sale, a % for using Slave-Pal & so many sites dump you right back to them. I don't think so. So, that takes care of that avenue. I wanted to remove the bottom plate to check out the meter wires for corrosion & check for dirt & oils. I suspect the plate is held on by the square head screw at the bottom of the tripod socket as the two end screws don't do the trick.

Just an FYI Mike --
There are no fees to buy on eBay. It costs nothing to send money via Paypal.
If you sell something on eBay, or receive money via Paypal, then yes you pay a percentage.
I mention this because sometimes there's no other way to find certain items, particularly for our older cameras. |

Yeah, what Donnie said, Mike. These days eBay is all about attracting the customers and is not so friendly to its sellers anymore. The sellers have nowhere else to go, so they're stuck, and eBay knows this and takes advantage of it. But for buyers, hey, it's smooth sailing. eBay even throws in "Buyer Protection" with your purchase.
And he's also very right about trying to find hard-to-find stuff. Often KEH.com can be a good alternative, though. |
