Hi, all. My Canon AV-1 has suddenly stopped working for the first time ever and I suspect the shutter is stuck shut because it has been on a shelf unused for maybe a year and I tried to use it today. The battery is OK (I have tried several including new) and I've tried different lenses. (1) I wound it on to take a shot. (2) Nothing happens on pressing the button. (3) I cannot wind it on again because it hasn't fired. All help gratefully received! (Cheltenham, UK) |

If the battery check indicates the battery is good, then your battery contacts are clean enough. The common cause of this problem in "A" series camera is a dirty release magnet at the bottom of the camera (under the baseplate). The other contacts are buried deep inside the camera. |

Thanks for that, Agno3. The camera has now gone off to a professional repair place. |
