Hi, all. My Canon AV-1 has suddenly stopped working for the first time ever and I suspect the shutter is stuck shut because it has been on a shelf unused for maybe a year and I tried to use it today.
The battery is OK (I have tried several including new) and I've tried different lenses.
(1) I wound it on to take a shot.
(2) Nothing happens on pressing the button.
(3) I cannot wind it on again because it hasn't fired.
All help gratefully received! (Cheltenham, UK)

If the battery check indicates the battery is good, then your battery contacts are clean enough.

The common cause of this problem in "A" series camera is a dirty release magnet at the bottom of the camera (under the baseplate). The other contacts are buried deep inside the camera.

Thanks for that, Agno3. The camera has now gone off to a professional repair place.
