Has anyone any advice on fixing Polaroids like the 180 and 195?

I have a real beat up 195 and, basically, I would like to swap out the back from a 350 because the back of the 195 is seriously rusted. I'm figuring the pin/shaft in the hinge is the key to popping everything off but, if I grind off one end of the pin/shaft how will I keep everything in place after the repair?.

Aside from that, the clips that keep the camera open keep letting go and the cameras folds itself.

Any hints and tips are appreciated.

There is a plastic plug at the top and bottom of the hinge. Pull these out with a pair of pliers and then you can use a skinny punch (like a tiny nail) to push or drive out the hinge pin -- a drop or two of oil will help things along.

If you are careful you can reuse the plastic plugs.

Thank you for that data. I could not get the plugs out so two were destroyed but the other two (the bottom ones) popped out nicely when the shaft bumped them out. Replaced the back with one from a "lesser" Polaroid and it fits nicely (as theorized). The two "good" plugs were used on the desirable camera.
